RENTON, Wash. - Rookie Brock Coyle is about to become the next option for the Seattle Seahawks at middle linebacker.Seattle linebackers coach Ken Norton Jr. said Wednesday the Seahawks are planning on starting Coyle at middle linebacker this week against Oakland. The undrafted rookie out of Montana has only played a handful of snaps during the season but impressed Seattles coaches enough during the preseason that theyre comfortable with the move.Its his position to lose. Wright to middle linebacker and insert Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith at outside linebacker. But its unknown whether Smith will be healthy for Sunday after suffering a groin injury against Carolina.Rather than completely juggling the linebacker corps, the Seahawks are planning to move Wright back outside and insert the rookie. Coyles representatives first tweeted congratulations for their client getting his first start.Thats why our depth is so important and Brocks work that he had with Bobby out in the summertime is very important, Norton said.Coyle has appeared in every game this season but mostly on special teams. He has played less than 10 defensive snaps. But he got plenty of time during the preseason when Wagner was out with a hamstring injury. Coyle started Seattles first two preseason games and saw extensive time in the other two.Coyle is the latest undrafted rookie to find his way onto Seattles roster, a group that includes wide receivers Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse, tight end Cooper Helfet and backup safety Jeron Johnson.Even with Coyle likely to start, the Seahawks will likely rotate their healthy linebackers. More than 2 1/2 months after the labrum in Harvins hip was repaired, the Seahawks got a glimpse Tuesday of a possible addition to a team thats already leading the NFC with a 6-1 record when the dynamic receiver returned to practice. It was an extra practice for the Seahawks, coming off a weekend of rest following last Thursdays win over Arizona. But it was a significant day for Harvin. "Its all day to day. I want to play as soon as possible, but we all want to be smart in this thing," Harvin said. "We put a plan together and were just going to take it day by day and see how it feels." Harvin was limited in his first day catching passes from Russell Wilson since organized team activities back in June. Seattle is remaining cautious about when Harvin will finally see the field. No one has said if hell play next Monday at St. Louis, but at least for now he hasnt been ruled out either. But Harvin didnt want his first impression with his teammates being him hobbling around recovering from an injury. "It was tough for me coming to a new team and I didnt know how everybody would perceive it," Harvin said. "It was tough for me to deal with. I really didnt want to have it but I knew it was something I needed to get done. It was tough being away from the team, being new to the team. They gave me great support and I was able to get through it." Harvin said he was originally told the recovery would take six to eight months, meaning he would have missed most, if not all of the season. Harvin is far ahead of that timetable and now is in the process of getting his timing back on the field. He worked out with Wilson at the teams facility on Monday and the duo were the final two off the practice field Tuesday. "I havent had any setbacks. Im running pretty good, cutting pretty good, doing all the things I was doing previously," Harvin said. "Its just getting in the grind, getting the practices in and getting in the meetings and all of those things and Ill be ready to go."
